Homogeneous nucleation of sheared liquids: advances and insights from simulations and theory

چکیده
One of the most ubiquitous and technologically important phenomena in nature is nucleation homogeneous flowing systems. The microscopic effects shear on a nucleating system are still imperfectly understood, although recent years consistent picture has emerged. opposing can be split into two major contributions for simple liquids: increase energetic cost nucleation, enhancement kinetics. In this perspective, we describe latest computational theoretical techniques which have been developed over past decades. We collate unify overarching influences shear, temperature, supersaturation process nucleation. Experimental capabilities discussed, against backdrop results from simulations theory. Although primarily focus liquids, also touch upon sheared more complex systems, including glasses polymer melts. speculate promising directions possible advances that could come to fruition future.
